MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Murray PD and SWAT responded to a home on Winchester St. in Murray after a man forced his way into a home and barricaded himself inside.
Murray Police responded to a home a little after 8:00 p.m at 584 W Winchester St. after they were called out for a possible burglary.
According to police, they believe the man had a relationship with a woman, and may have been a ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend situation when he attempted to force his way into the house.
Police say two people inside the home managed to get out of the house and call police reporting a possible burglary. The alleged girlfriend was also able to get out of the home a little while later.
When officers arrived they say the man stepped outside the home and fired at the officers before barricading himself inside the home. Fortunately, no officers were injured.
SWAT arrived a little after 9:00 p.m. and after six hours, at 2:00 am. the ordeal came to an end.
Police say one person inside the home is dead from a gunshot wound, but have not confirmed it is the suspect.
Unified Police Department is taking over the investigation because Utah’s “Officer Involved Shooting” protocol.
