Police arrest third suspect in murder of Eric Carter


WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) –  UPDATE: West Valley Police have located and arrested outstanding suspect Jay Urry. Urry was captured on Saturday.
Tonight two people are under arrest and a third is still on the loose following the murder/auto theft in West Valley City Tuesday night.
West Valley Police arrested 34 year-old Jesse Searle and 26 year-old Jeanette Miner and booked them into the Salt Lake County jail on murder, robbery, and obstruction of justice.
Through the night West Valley City Police were following leads that led them to the two suspects, through their investigation they discovered 41 year-old Jay Urry was also involved and are currently trying to find him.
“Through their pursuit of their leads they were able to identify there three suspects, they were able to locate two of those suspects and they’ve taken them into custody and they have since been booked in the Salt Lake County Jail, one of those suspects is still outstanding and we’re asking for the publics help,” said Roxeanne Vainuku with the West Valley City Police Department.
Around 6 o’clock Tuesday night police received a call from the victim, 49 year-old Eric Carter about three people attempting to steal a friend’s trailer from a home near 4521 S, 4840 W in West Valley City.  As Carter was relaying information to police, he jumped into the bed of the truck, the call was soon disconnected.
“West Valley City Police Officers arrived on the scene and they found the body of a man in the roadway, dead just a few blocks from where this call had originated,” added Vainuku.
The body was that of Eric Carter found in the area near 505 W Royal Ann Drive.  According to the probable cause statement Miner was driving the suspect vehicle.  An altercation then began between Carter and Searle.  As Miner shouted, “Get him out of there,” she took off striking Carter with the driver side of the trailer, killing him. Searle who witnessed the incident left the scene on foot.
Both the truck and trailer were recovered late Tuesday night.  The trailer was found in West Valley City, while the truck which was also stolen, was found in Kearns.
Police ask anyone if they know where Urry is or may have seen him to contact West Valley Police.
