MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – A 17-year old girl is dead after she was hit by a truck Tuesday night.
Police arrived at the victim’s home after receiving a call around 6:44 p.m.
When police arrived they found the body of the 17-year-old girl underneath the truck.
Police say the victim and her 17-year-old boyfriend had been arguing when at some point the boyfriend got into the driver side of the truck and backed into his girlfriend.
Police do not know if she was killed instantly, but say she was dead when they arrived on the scene.
Police say the boyfriend was taken by Unified Fire to Intermountain Medical Center where he was being treated for minor injuries to his shoulder.
“We know they were having an argument, they were in the backyard, he ended up in the driver seat of the vehicle and ended up backing into her. We don’t know if it was an accident or intentional but that is one of the things we’ll be looking into right now,” said Lt. Justin Hoyle with Unified Police.
Police will continue to have a heavy presence at the home throughout the night as it continues to be an active investigation and will be diagramming and recreating the scene to figure out what transpired here this evening.
ABC 4 Utah will continue to follow this story and periodically update on the investigation.
